SMD was recently interviewed on the radio magazine Oklahoma Innovations, a weekly science and technology program, to talk about their 25 years of business in the electronic contract manufacturing industry. Oklahoma Innovations is a program of OCAST, The Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science & Technology.
SMD was featured as a progressive Oklahoma-based manufacturing business. In the interview General Manager Gary Hamner and Engineering Manager Scotty Blass attributed quality, technology and lean principles a major contributors to their business growth. In the interview, Hamner shared the story of SMD’s humble beginnings to today’s success.
SMD was also recognized on the show as a company that invests in their own employees. Some of SMD’s employees have been working for SMD for over twenty years. SMD was also recognized for providing on-site training for their staff.
Jannetta Clark, manufacturing extension agent for the Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance (a partner of OCAST), joined SMD on the radio show. SMD’s first project with Clark about 11 years ago.
